Batumi Botanical Garden

Batumi Dolphinarium

The Batumi Dolphinarium can offer a brilliant and entertaining day out for the entire family. With regular dolphin shows for up to 700 people at a time and the opportunity for visitors to try their hand at dolphin training, this attraction is sure to delight people of all ages.

Remains of the Gonio Fortress

The Gonio Fortress is an ancient Roman structure located close to Batumi in Georgia. The grave of St. Matthias, one of the twelve apostles, is rumoured to be within the within the Gonio Fortress but this theory is as yet unverified. The remains attract many tourists every year and are a great place to learn more about Georgia's Roman heritage.

Shopping in Batumi

The city centre of Batumi is full of large department stores and smaller independent shops selling a variety of affordable items and souvenirs. Remember, shopping in Georgia differs from Western shopping experiences as products are usually slightly more expensive in supermarkets than they are in smaller independent shops. Many shops do not stock a particularly wide range of products, but some who do have a decent selection include King and Queen Boutique and Goodwill Supermarket. The centre of town also has a variety of well known brands selling products often seen in the western world.

Eating Out in Batumi

A delicious local dish that all visitors should try is ‘acharuli khachipuri'. This dish resembles a long boat and is made up of a mix of cheese and egg. Batumi is home to a great selection of high quality restaurants and cafes serving a wide range of meals from Boulangerie, which serves traditional French baked goods, to San Remo Restaurant, serving authentic Georgian cuisine and international dishes. Batumi is also littered with cheap fast food outlets for eating on the move.
