Boulogne, France

The Old Town

Nausicaä

The Nausicaä centre is one of Europe's largest aquariums, with an area of around 5000 square meters. The aquarium houses a plethora of astounding exhibits including a shark tank, penguin beach, tropical lagoon and a sea lion reserve.

The Basilica of Notre-Dame

This extraordinary 19th century basilica dominates Boulogne's old town with its colossal size and extravagant dome. Sitting in the shadow of the basilica is northern Europe's largest medieval crypt, adorned with historic sculptures and decorative ornaments.

Shopping in Boulogne

The major shopping area is located in the Rue Adolphe Thiers area of Boulogne and is home to a wide range of shops, stalls and boutiques where tourists can purchase fantastic gifts and souvenirs. The city also has a large supermarket selling general amenities. Several markets are situated within the centre of town including the Sunday Market, Market Place Dalton and Market Place Vignon where a range of produce as well as arts and crafts are available to purchase.

Boulogne contains a wide variety of restaurants and cafes serving everything from traditional French dishes to a range of international cuisine, mostly situated around the Dalton area of town.
