Port Antonio, Jamaica Luxury Cruises

Resting on the eastern point of the island of Jamaica, Port Antonio is still relatively untouched by the tourism that washes over the country during the summer months. Anyone who actually ventures to this quaint port however, will be given fair reason to consider this wholly unfair.

The beaches are filled with spectacular rocky outcrops that set them apart, yet never spoil the beauty of the sands. Meanwhile, heading in from the coastline, you will find a wonderfully chaotic sprawl of backstreets, markets and local eateries, with none of the faux authenticity of the tourist traps elsewhere on the island.

The spotlight of Jamaica's tourism industry may not have been focused on Port Antonio since the 30's, but this is all for the better. If you'd love to experience an urban Jamaican getaway without the relentless pace of the bigger cities on the island, then you may have found your paradise.

Sightseeing in Port Antonio

This remarkable town is hidden away in a cove on the far eastern side of Portland. Unburdened by the plethora of sun lounge rentals, garish umbrellas and passing merchants hawking wares that can ruin the ambience of more popular beach spots, Manchioneal is home to a coastal community that are content to live by the lull of the breeze. This magical port is a favourite of seafood lovers – as you are bound to surmise from the cornucopia of colourful fishing boats in the harbour -  and the scenery is to die for, make sure to take the short drive from Port Antonio.

Reach Falls

An attraction that gives its visitors a scintillating experience of both comfort and awe, Reach Falls has been a haunt for incognito celebrities for decades, and it's remarkably easy to see why. The heart of Reach Falls is its central waterfall, which cascades down a towering rock face to a glittering pool below. From the centre of the lush jungle that surrounds the falls, you can head up the Driver's river on a guided tour, exploring exquisite picnic areas and rock faces.

Winnifred Beach

Home to a beautiful coral reef imbued with a kaleidoscope of shades, Winnifred Beach is a sheltered stretch of pure white sand that not just a spot in which to top up your tan. One of the most alluring beaches in all of Jamaica, this sheltered hideaway is as gorgeous as it is spacious. The air of authenticity around the beach is palpable, with a long, winding unpaved road leading through lush walls of trees and vines. With nary a sun lounger in sight, you'll adore the serenity this picture-perfect beach can provide.

Shopping in Port Antonio

The local art scene in Port Antonio is absolutely flourishing, and there's no better place to acquire you some authentic artworks than Portland Art Gallery. This lovingly curated collection is bound to hold something which piques your interest.

Eating out in Port Antonio
