Make sure to head further north up the coast for a journey through stunning rocky outcrops and lush cliff sides.
The crystal waters of the California Gulf are perfect for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and windsurfing. But the majesty of the seas surrounding Topolobampo has another remarkable facet in store. This relatively quiet part of the Mexican coast is home to magnificent schools of dolphins that can be seen gliding gracefully through the water from the site of El Pechocho. The beachhead of El Pechocho is a fantastic place from which to snorkel toward the families of dolphins, and have the experience of lifetime.
Isla del Farallon
This rocky marine ledge, the 2nd largest of its kind in the world, situated as the jewel in the crown of the Sea of Cortex. Long a sanctuary for hundreds of seals and sea lions, this amazing island can easily be reached by speed boat from the coast near Topolobampo, and is another incredible place to swim with dolphins and porpoises, as well as observe thousands of migratory seabirds.
Shopping in Topolobampo
For a unique shopping experience, head up the coast to Mazatlan, which offers up thrilling markets and unique curios. The Zona Dorada is the central shopping area, and is one of the finest places to buy arts and crafts on the whole Mexican coast. Unique art works, sculptures, pottery and needlework are just some of the marvels on display.
Eating Out in Topolobampo
For a true culinary treat, head to Stanley's Bar and Grill near the centre of town. This local favourite is known for serving delicious foreign beers, as well as a bevy of seafood delights including the freshest fish, crab and oysters.
