Vitoria Cruise Port

Although Brazil has become well known for the vast golden shorelines of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, it is not without its picturesque locales that while lacking the size and business of these major cities, have a natural beauty and vibrancy all of their own.

Vitoria, situated on the southeast coast of Brazil, is one such port where the famously stunning beaches and culture of Brazil can be found without having to make do with the crowds amongst fast paced and massive cities.

The tranquillity of Vitoria, the relatively small and quaint capital of Espirito Santo, can be visited by cruisers as a welcome respite from the more modern, tourist orientated cities that have become dominant on itineraries in recent years.

The quality of quaint charm that permeates this lovely municipality is made even more concrete by Vitoria's natural surroundings. The city itself is spread out over 34 islands within a stunning archipelago, with series of art deco inspired bridges spanning the expanses between villages of colourful buildings, striking waterfronts, and lush foliage that thrive in the tropical climes.

Throughout the islands, striking golden beaches like Curva da Jurema are cloistered amongst the green expanses of the hills and valleys, scattered like diamonds between the sun-dappled hamlets and villages that populate the shores.

Sightseeing in Vitoria

Cidade Alta

In the Cidade Alta, or the ‘High City', there are architectural wonders to be found at every turn. This historic centre of the city has managed to retain its unique buildings and charms for decades. A stroll through the centre, whether it is at your own pace, or accompanied by one of the many fantastic, experienced guides, is always worth it. Visits on the weekends are advisable, as it means that you get access to luxury residential areas, as well as many of the churches. A particular highlight is the Cathedral Metropolitana, which is a modern marvel of neo gothic design, featuring biblical passages stained upon its walls, as well as multi-hued lights that make its towering spires a sight that can be seen for miles.

Frade Island

This idyllic island is connected to Vitoria by the Ponte do Camelo (Camel Bridge); being so close to the major districts of Vitoria that it is mere minute's way by car or bus. This island is famous for having amazing, quaint beaches hidden amongst rocky outcrops and towering trees. A secluded gem, the finest beach on the island is probably Praia da Castanheira (Chestnut Beach). Surrounded by chestnut trees and perfectly pristine, this serene shoreline is a fantastic place to soak up the sunshine.

Shopping in Vitoria

For fantastic brands that you know and love, along with unique high fashion, jewellery, and cosmetic products, head to Shopping Vitoria, which features over 400 stores for your delectation. Those looking to find curios off the beaten track should head to Shopping Boulevard, which features boutiques cloistered in narrow side streets selling antiques, rare souvenirs, and local produce.
