Couples and small groups who appreciate the finest luxury touches and a style reminiscent of the golden age of cruising will be perfectly suited to the Silversea experience. If you are looking for a luxury line with plenty of activities and entertainment on-board whilst still retaining an intimate small-ship ambience, as well as immersive shore excursions in port, you won’t be disappointed with Silversea.
During the day, casual resort wear is suitable both on-board and ashore. In the evenings however, Silversea operates casual, informal and formal nights. Appropriate casual attire includes open-neck shirts and slacks; suitable informal wear means dresses or trouser suits for women and smart jackets for men, whilst on formal evenings women should opt for evening gowns or cocktail dresses and men should wear tuxedos, dark suits or dinner jackets.
Silversea cruises are regularly recognised as the World's Best by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller and Travel & Leisure, offering guests large-ship amenities aboard four specially designed intimate vessels. Their distinctive European style reflects the line's true Italian heritage and this is evident in every detail, from the sublime all-suite accommodation and uncompromising service levels, to exquisite gourmet dining and a carefree all-inclusive philosophy.
The impeccable service begins the moment you step aboard with a warm welcome and a glass of champagne offered in exchange for your luggage. The crew are hand-picked and trained by The Leading Hotel Schools of the World and as there is a crew-to-guest ratio of nearly one to one, an incomparable level of individualised attention is ensured. No detail is too small and no request too insignificant, and the Silversea service is just one of the reasons why so many people choose to travel with this marvellous line again and again.
Silversea launched their first ship Silver Cloud in 1994, followed by Silver Wind in 1995, Silver Shadow in 2000, Silver Whisper in 2001 and Silver Spirit in 2009. The fleet was purpose-built for the ultra-luxury market, establishing a new class of smaller, intimate vessels that could slip into more exotic ports. These elite vessels were specifically designed for fewer guests, more space and the highest levels of personalized service, whilst incorporating the most popular amenities found on larger ships, such as an elaborate show lounges, casinos, spas and state-of-the-art fitness facilities.
In addition to their five luxurious ships, Silversea added an expedition vessel to their fleet in 2008, named Silver Explorer. This incredible ship journeys to some of the world’s most far-flung and difficult to reach destinations, while still maintaining high levels of luxury and service unrivalled on any other expedition cruise.
Life on-board is most definitely an experience to look forward to and you’ll be calling the ship your home before the evening draws in. Enjoy informative lectures, demonstrations and informal talks provided by guest speakers including noted historians, celebrity chefs, bestselling authors and destination experts.
There are a wealth of options when it comes to daily activities. Whether it’s a delightful cup of afternoon tea, a matinee of movies, a dance class or culinary demonstration, a game of bingo, shuffleboard or even table tennis, there is a little something to suit every taste. After dinner, guests will be invited enjoy a treasure trove of lounges, bars and entertainment venues around the ship, before retreating back to their sumptuous suite, offering a haven of amenities needed for the perfect night’s sleep. Making their debut in 2015 are the Voices of Silversea, a talented ensemble of vocalists who will lend their talents to seven all-new and exclusive production shows which will be performed in each ship's Show Lounges. Also contributing to this incredible evening entertainments programme are members of The London Philharmonic Orchestra, who have provided exclusively-recorded backing music for a number of the productions.
