Having spent four years in planning and taken hundreds of architects, designers and thousands of workers to create, Celebrity Edge is a ship many have been waiting for.

Utilising a globally-renowned design team and with a commitment to creating something truly spectacular on-board the flagship for Celebrity Cruises’ new Edge Class. Designers such as Kelly Hoppen, Nate Berkus and Patricia Urquiola, have all shaped Celebrity Edge with their fresh perspectives and bold choices to leave behind a statement of modern luxury in the shape of a stunning, brand new ship.

Exploring the aesthetics of accommodations

Just one of the ways in which this statement can be seen is across the accommodation. Not only have all staterooms been given a refreshed palette, harmonious functionality and innovative features, but there is also brand new categories, such as the Iconic Suite and the Edge Villa.

Edge Stateroom with Infinite Balcony

During a two night stay on-board Celebrity Edge, I stayed in the Edge Stateroom with Infinite BalconySM, a new accommodation type which boasts 27% more space than the rest of the fleet. The staterooms are described as transformational and, after calling it home during my two nights on-board, I can wholeheartedly agree.

At the touch of a button, the window and blind open to reveal a balcony that is an extension of your room. The boundaries of balcony and stateroom space are no more, as Celebrity Edge erases them and brings the outside in for a truly transformational setting.

There’s a control panel beside the wall as you enter your stateroom where you can choose a light setting between ‘morning’, ‘evening’, ‘movies’ or ‘sleep’. Each of these had pre-set functions for the lights, blinds and balcony window. For example, the ‘morning’ setting switched bright lights on and opened the blinds, while the ‘movies’ setting turned on bedside lamps for a cinema-feel. Quite a novelty once you’d mastered the settings!

The bathrooms in the Edge Staterooms are also larger, offering 10% more space than the rest of the fleet. I loved these, which felt like the en-suite of a luxurious hotel complete with marble decor, glass doors into the shower, hairdryer in a drawer beneath the sink and plenty of storage space for your own toiletries – not that you’ll need them all as chic branded shampoo, conditioner and body wash amenities are also provided.

In the main area, there is a long desk with plenty of drawer space, a mini fridge, a desktop container with plug sockets (including 110V, 220V and USB outlets) and an extendable table at the end.

You could even push this table into the cabinet beside it, which revealed a full-length, light-up mirror. I loved sitting at this end of the desk as it was perfect for getting ready for the evenings. Across from the desk is a sofa and storage space where there are full-size wardrobes as well as a safe and drawers.

The storage across all of the accommodation is designed in this natural wood with handleless doors so that they are hidden away when not in use, appealing to the smooth and thoughtful attributes of the overall style from Hoppen.

Suite sanctuaries and inviting villas

Across the rest of the Celebrity Edge’s accommodation, the Suites stand-out. With the brand new Edge Villas and Iconic Suites, the true ethos of the ship comes alive. Both of these epitomise the modern luxury values initially laid out for Celebrity Edge.

Edge Villas

There are six Edge Villas on-board Celebrity Edge, each of which offers 950 square feet of split level, indoor/outdoor comfort. They are the first of their kind in the Celebrity Cruises’ fleet and it’s not hard to imagine that we will be seeing much more of them across the industry as they are stunning.

That boutique hotel feel arose once more as I entered one of these during my stay on-board and, if it weren’t for the view out to sea from the floor-to-ceiling windows, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped into a luxury apartment.

The first floor – yes, there’s more than one – offers a living area with a 55″ interactive TV with surround sound, bathroom and access to your very own private terrace. Outside, the terrace has inviting lounge furniture as well as a three-foot-deep plunge pool where you can while away hours overlooking the horizon.

As for the second floor, you are greeted with a bathroom comprising a separate bath and walk-in shower, all ensconced in the subtle marble decor – continuing Hoppen’s vision of natural comfort and luxury.

Step out of the bathroom and turn right and you’re met with the endless views of the sea which the master bedroom overlooks.

From the wooden flooring to the layered curtains framing the floor-to-ceiling windows, here the natural colour schemes are lifted with emerald green tones to further accentuate the uniqueness of this stateroom.

Guests staying here can enjoy additional suite amenities such as direct access to the Retreat, including Luminae at the Retreat, The Retreat Lounge and the Retreat Sundeck; priority tender service; complimentary 24-hour room service; personal butler; complimentary speciality dining, high-speed internet access and Premium Drinks Package, as well as much more.

Iconic Suite

Possibly one of the most luxurious suites I’ve ever stepped foot in, the Iconic Suite is the epitome of decadence. Boasting two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and more than 2,500 square feet of expansive space, the suite is Celebrity Cruises’ most spacious across the whole fleet.

Iconic Suite - Celebrity Edge

There are only two on-board Celebrity Edge, situated high on top of the ship above the bridge. This allows for the incredible sweeping, panoramic views that you notice from the moment you step through the door. The revolutionary staterooms have also been designed by Kelly Hoppen, so the signature philosophy and neutral tones are once again apparent throughout.

Iconic Suite - Celebrity Edge

Each of the two bedrooms feature a king-sized Cashmere Collection bed and two full bathrooms – each including a full shower, whirlpool tub and luxury amenities. There is enough space for six guests to unwind, with a large dining table set for six and seating space to relax. There’s even a swing by the window for you to sway as you watch the waves pass by beneath the sun.

Iconic Suite - Celebrity Edge

As you walk outside in to the expansive balcony area, there is even more seating to entertain guests and sunbathe, as well as a cabana to get some shade and a private whirlpool tub to enjoy all to yourselves! If you do love to entertain friends and family, there is also an in-suite butler pantry, perfect for all occasions. Your butler even has a separate entrance so they don’t disturb you.

Marble and gold accents, alongside soft grey, white and brown tones all combine to create a sanctuary where you can’t help but feel at ease. What’s more, the main bedroom has floor to ceiling windows which brings light in and extends your view. Who wouldn’t love to be woken up to this every day?

We were booked and paid for a suite on the Edge…. we were really looking forward to our cruise, but unfortunately the virus caused us to be canceled…. would love to be offered the same deal for some time in the future
