Silversea’s latest spectacular ship, Silver Muse, was delivered by the Fincantieri shipyard just last week, and is set for a glorious christening ceremony in Monaco on 19th April. But you don’t have to wait until then to take a sneak peek inside this breath-taking vessel.

Last week, our very own Connell Green was lucky enough to step on-board for a sailing from Genoa to Marseille. It’s safe to say he won’t be forgetting this trip in a hurry…

The ship

To say that I loved this ship is an understatement. Despite being fresh out of the shipyard, there wasn’t a thing out of place on-board Silversea Silver Muse. The ship was beautiful, with a feeling of opulence that wasn’t over the top. It has been designed to give guests much more room than you would find on other, similar sized ships.

I stayed in a Silver Suite: a beautifully spacious room with a veranda and marble bathroom. Jerry, my butler, provided a superb service which absolutely made a difference to my stay. The bed sheets, mattress and pillows were unbelievable, too, with a huge menu of pillows available. I could also take advantage of two huge flat screen TVs with a very modern amenity booking system, plus five different bathroom amenities ranging from Bvlgari to Salvatore Ferragamo. The star of the show, however, was the huge veranda: a private space where I could enjoy a leisurely breakfast with a stunning view.

On the ship itself, the decor was elegant, sophisticated and relaxing. The Observation Library is a must-see: a quiet space where guests can take time out to admire the view. I also loved Connoisseur’s Corner, which was perfect for an after-dinner scotch or cognac.

The food

Fabulous dining is a given on luxury cruise ships, but the food on-board Silver Muse really was something else.

The Argentinian steak I had at Atlantide was cooked to perfection, while Hot Rocks delivered a beautiful cut of filet mignon with sweet potato fries, followed by a lovely lemon cheesecake. I also dined at Spaccanapoli (previously Regina Margherita), and enjoyed one of the best pizzas of my life! The fresh ingredients, faultless dough and plenty of cheese were a recipe for perfection.

While on-board Silver Muse, I also took advantage of the in-suite breakfast: a must-taste portion of eggs benedict with a view.

As with the rest of the ship, the level of service in Silver Muse’s restaurants was faultless. No matter where you eat, you are in for a treat, especially if you decide to visit Atlantide’s bar for pre-dinner drinks. Highly recommended!

The final verdict

I would recommend this ship to other travellers in a heartbeat. From the incredible attention to detail and fantastic service, to the superb dining and extensive wine lists, Silver Muse puts Silversea far ahead of the competition. Perfect for solo travellers, professional couples and those who enjoy the finer things in life, this ship is a must-see.
