Following the launch of the highly anticipated Silver Moon from Silversea, we took the opportunity to sit down with Connie Georgiou, Silversea’s Sales Director- UK, Ireland Middle East and Africa to talk about the resumption of international cruise travel and what to expect and experience on-board the brand new ship Silver Moon.

You must be thrilled that Silversea are back on the water, since the end of June and welcoming UK guests back on-board. What has been the highlight for you so far?

After so long of not being able to sail, stepping on to one of our beautiful ships for the first time was very emotional, however as soon as I was greeted by our amazing crew, I immediately felt at home. Receiving such positive comments from our guests has been really inspiring!

2021 marks Silver Moon’s inaugural season, what has the reaction and feedback been like from guests?

We’ve received truly positive feedback from our guests, you can see for yourself what guests are saying about the current Silversea experience in this video.

The S.A.L.T experiences on-board are a brand new feature you’ve introduced for Silver Moon, can you tell us a bit more about how the concept came about and what it means for your guests?

The brief was about finding a balance between land and sea, bringing the two together through world of culinary influences. Guests will have the opportunity to connect to the destination and other guests through food, drink and the stories around them. It is about creating an enriching experience from dining to cooking that brings people together, creating social moments. Rather than focusing on star chefs, the guests will have real, authentic food that will transport them on a journey of discovery from port to port.

This journey is reflected in the design itself, with lots of unique objects and arts & crafts pieces that draw on influences from all over the world. The colour palettes used enhance the guest journey with lighter tones for the communal areas and cooking spaces at S.A.L.T Lab; rich details and accents in the main restaurant, S.A.L.T Kitchen and a darker, more mysterious feel for S.A.L.T Bar, seamlessly taking them from day to night.

What are your highlights and new additions on-board that you are most excited for guests to experience?

Aside from the S.A.L.T. experiences, Silversea’s signature restaurant, La Dame, has been redesigned and enlarged; Atlantide restaurant has been enlarged and enriched; Kaiseki has had an enhanced design; The Connoisseur’s Corner now features a new Wintergarden area; and the popular Dolce Vita lounge has a new layout with the bar repositioned to the centre of the venue.

What are the key differences of life on-board and what are some of the main measures that have been done to ensure that the cruise experience is not just safer, but even better for your guests?

All Crew and Guests have to be double vaccinated on all Silversea sailings. We have a simple form on MySilversea where guests can upload either their Vaccination Card or the their NHS App detail. Masks are required in public areas, our butlers do a daily temperature check for guests and prior to disembarking Eurofin will complete an Antigen Test with a certificate for guests to use on arrival in the UK. It all works very efficiently.

For breakfast and lunch in La Terrazza we serve guests rather than the helping themselves – and that has turned out to be an enhancement for the guest experience. Feedback so far is that guests are appreciative of our approach on all aspects of our heathy return to service and it creates a very safe atmosphere on board with gusts both following and appreciating our enhanced protocols.
