Da Nang
Da Nang is the third largest city in Vietnam, and is home to a number of interesting and unique attractions. Visit the My Son Sanctuary and take a tour by bus or boat to see a wealth of sculptures that tell the story of the formidable Champa Kingdom. Or visit the Cham Museum, with a large collection of artistic pieces from the Cham civilisation that occupied Vietnam for hundreds of years. Or you may wish to visit the Marble Mountains, just a short distance from the city with numerous Buddhist temples built into the caves and grottos, along with the Am Phu Cave which hosts not only spectacular views, but also eerie and fascinating statues depicting sinners being punished.
Alternatively, you may opt to head to nearby Hue, the Imperial capital and home to a wealth of temples, including the iconic Thien Mu pagoda, split over seven levels. The Imperial Citadel is another major landmark, a huge complex surrounded by a moat and with relics that detail the history of royal life in the region.
The currency in Da Nang is the Vietnamese Dong. Da Nang is 7 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +7).
