The most popular, and often the busiest beaches in the area, include Palolem, Morjim, Candolim, Sinquerim, Calangute and Baga Beach. Quieter and more peaceful areas of coastline can be found at Patnem, Asvem, Mandrem and Vagator Beach. A range of water sports and coastal activities are also on offer along many of Goa’s spectacular beaches.

Old Goa

Old Goa is brimming with rich culture, heritage and history and is home to a variety of historic structures from the region’s colonial past. Most of the old town is pedestrianised and guided tours of the area are available. Significant historic buildings found within Old Goa include the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se’ Cathedral Church as well as religious structures such as the Chapel of Catherine and the Church of Lady of Rosary. This area of town also contains several interesting museums, including the Archaeology Museum and Portrait Gallery, Pilar Seminary Museum and the Sound and Light Gallery Museum.

Shopping in Goa

A variety of gift and souvenir shops are distributed throughout Goa, most of which tend to be concentrated around the popular tourist attractions in the area. Markets and supermarkets are also available in town, allowing tourist to pick up a range of general amenities and necessities.

Eating out in Goa

Traditional Goan meals are available in restaurants and at food shacks up and down the coastline and around the centre of town. The Goan diet typically consists of rice and fish curry. International cuisine and handy fast food options are also available across the state.
