Golfo Aranci, Italy
Golfo Aranci offers its visitors all the best of Sardinia during their cruise around the island. This is one of the Mediterranean’s playgrounds of the wealthy, where old villages and ancient, picturesque coastline rest alongside modern luxury resorts, and bright white yachts are moored in the surrounding harbours.
Sightseeing in Golfo Aranci
Golfo Aranci is surrounded by incredible beaches, both on its own doorstep and further afield. Visitors will also find a wealth of places to visit during their time ashore, from historic old towns to areas of incredible natural beauty – a shore trip here is a chance to see all the best that northern Sardinia has to offer.
The vivid blue waters of Golfo Aranci are home to a rich variety of marine life, from starfish and bright coral to families of dolphins and countless colourful fish – what better place to learn how to scuba dive? Dedicated diving schools in the area can offer classes during your time ashore in Golfo Aranci, many of which employ instructors with a good standard of English. You may even have the chance to take a boat out on a shallow or a deeper dive, for an unforgettable experience of the beautiful Sardinian coast.
Your cruise to Golfo Aranci may give you the chance to take a panoramic tour of the Costa Smerelda, an area of incredibly beautiful coastline, even by Mediterranean standards. A typical excursion might involve a coach tour along the coast, and you may have the chance to see the stunning hilltop village of San Pantaleo – a cluster of romantic villas and bright, sunlit squares, surrounded by the dramatic backdrop of jutting rocky outcrops. Later you may be travelling around the breathtaking Baja Sardinia, and you could get a chance to see traditional Sardinian arts and crafts at Isolo – traditional fabrics and rugs; ceramic vases and sculptures, and beautiful handmade jewellery influenced by the sea.
The islands of the Maddalena Archipelago are home to a remarkable national park, which encompasses much of the surrounding waters. Much of the potential urban development proposed in the area was challenged and fought back by environmentalists, and the local birds and sea life were allowed to flourish a result. As such the area makes for an incredible place to relax and swim in the stark turquoise waters – and the perfect opportunity to see some of the most outstanding wildlife and natural beauty in the Mediterranean.
Shopping in Golfo Aranci
Much of the best shopping around Golfo Aranci proper can be found by wandering down the Via Liberta, where you’ll find plenty of fresh local produce and traditional crafts like textiles and ceramics. Alternatively, make for the old village where you’ll find the bulk of the town’s fishing industry. You may not feel the need to take a fish or some shellfish back with you, but a trip around the fish market and the colourful buildings here could well be worth your time.
Eating Out in Golfo Aranci
