Mykonos, Greece Port
For over 50 years, Mykonos has been a destination renowned for its nightlife. Originally a haunt of the rich and those of higher society, it’s now more readily accessible by the masses, and it continues to be known as a party destination. Yet for the luxury cruise traveller, there is still much to see away from the nightlife districts, without the bustling crowds. A highlight of the island is, of course, its beaches, and there are many where you’ll find empty white sands just perfect for a relaxing day spent sunbathing. Or if you head south of the main waterfront, you’ll find ‘Little Venice’, with quaint houses and a number of windmills overlooking from higher ground.
If you wish, you can head to the neighbouring island of Delos, a small location packed with intrigue. In ancient mythology, this was the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo, the twin gods. The marble ruins here are amongst the most significant in the country, and travellers are welcome to wander amongst the temples and learn more about the mythological history of ancient Greece.
The currency on Mykonos is the Euro. Mykonos is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +3).
