St. Geroge's, Grenada Port
St George’s, the capital of Grenada, is the epitome of a relaxing Caribbean escape. The island itself is known as Spice Island, with a delightful aroma of nutmeg, almond and vanilla filling the air throughout. St George’s captures everything that makes this region a delight, without being overrun by tourists. If you want to enjoy a day on the sands, the beaches offer a tranquil spot where you can sunbathe and listen to the lapping of the pristine ocean. Or head to Grand Anse if you wish to try something more thrilling with plenty of watersport activities available.
Surrounding the town there are a number of breath-taking sights to enjoy amongst the tropical rainforests. You’ll see exotic fruits growing wild, as well as large cocoa and cinnamon plantations. Don’t miss the awe-inspiring beauty of Annadale Falls, a spectacular waterfall that is also a charming place to enjoy a swim, or head to Grand Etang National Park, offering spectacular scenery around a lake that fills a volcanic crater.
The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is the official currency of St George’s, although the US Dollar is widely accepted. St George’s is 4 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT -4).
