Celebrity Flora’s custom-built Novurania tenders will transport you in comfort and style. They feature stairs with a metal railing that fits flush against the open aft creating a seamless ship to shore transportation system that makes it even easier to go exploring the islands—a first in the Galapagos. Each tender also features a hydraulic ramp that makes wet landings in the islands much more convenient—and less wet. It can also be used as a platform that makes getting on and off for snorkeling much easier. Other features not found on the standard tender include storage space for snorkel gear and interior seating. They also feature rubber grips on the sides for a comfortable place to hold on while you explore the islands.

We’ve collaborated with Miami’s Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science to design educational videos that are part of our immersive Galapagos experience. Fun and engaging, the videos can be viewed at your leisure in the bars and lounges and in your suite. Each video ranges from 5-minute shorts to in-depth 30-minute “TED” style lectures on relevant topics that help prepare you for your daily adventures in the islands.

Ability to accommodate guests with special needs aboard Celebrity Flora is limited. This ship does not have an elevator or accessible staterooms. There is very little wheelchair accessibility on the Galapagos∘ Islands, and service animals are not permitted in the Galapagos National Park.

Dietary Requirements

If you wish to smoke, please use one of the designated areas outdoors. Smoking is not permitted in any of the dining rooms, casino, theatre, lounge, hallway, elevator, corridor, stateroom or on any stateroom balcony. This includes smoking-like products such as electronic∘ cigarettes. If you do smoke in any of the no-smoking areas you may be charged a $250 cleaning fee.

Smoking Policy

LightingWe’re replacing higher wattage halogen and incandescent light bulbs with longer lasting fluorescent and Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights throughout∘ our fleet. Fluorescent and LED bulbs require 80% less energy, generate 50% less heat, reduce energy consumption, last much longer and contribute to more efficient air conditioning due to the cooler bulbs.Propulsion and Hull DesignA new approach to hull design and propulsion systems, resulted in significant energy savings. Ships equiped with Common Rail Diesel Engines reduce energy consumption and NOX emissions at all engine loads.Heating, Ventilation, and ACOur ships are equipped with the latest and most efficient air-conditioning equipment commercially available. Coupled with improvements in system design and automation.Operation Conservation MeasuresOur environmental policies guide both our shipboard and shoreside employees in beneficial environmental practices. Our crewmembers are an integral part of our energy-conservation efforts. Staff and guests are advised to turn off lights, water and appliances when not needed, adjust temperature∘ thermostats to comfortable levels when no one is present and using towels and bed linens more than once before laundering.Fresh Water ConsumptionWe ask our crewmembers and guests to help us conserve water whenever possible. To help reduce the energy needed to produce fresh water, we have installed water-reduction technology∘ and appliances throughout our fleet to reduce the use of water-producing equipment that consumes fuel or electricity. These features include sink aerators, showerheads, reduced-flow dishwashers and low-consumption laundry equipment.Advanced Wastewater PurificationWe Installed Advanced Wastewater Purification∘ (AWP) systems throughout the fleet. These technologically advanced systems clean the wastewater generated onboard our ships to create clean water that exceeds ship wastewater discharge standards throughout the world.Renewable Energy SourcesOur ships are equipped with solar power technology. The panels and the clean power they produce can help reduce the consumption of energy∘ derived from fossil fuels. 500m2 of solar panels produce enough electricity to power a ship's guest elevators or approximately 7,000 LED lights.High-Efficiency AppliancesWe have installed high-efficiency appliances throughout the ship in order to minimize their impact on climate change and reduce our energy load. Every type of appliance onboard our ships is being evaluated for efficiency, including TV's, coffeemakers, ice makers, ovens and dishwashers.Energy-Efficient WindowsAcross the fleet we have applied window films that are specially glazed to prevent solar heat from penetrating, thereby reducing the amount of air conditioning needed to cool the ship, thereby saving energy.Hull CoatingsWe apply new silicone paints on the hull, which are innovative and environmentally safe coatings that increase the smoothness of our ships' hull. By creating a smoother hull, we can reduce the amount of energy needed to travel through water.

Environment

As the first ship ever designed for a destination, we wanted to ensure that Celebrity Flora was built with every state-of-the-art option and latest technology to make her one of the most eco-friendly and environmentally safe ships sailing on the planet. From a Dynamic Positioning System that enables the ship to stay on station without the use of anchors (to help protect the seas) to the solar panels on Deck 7 (it’s the first ship of this size to have them) that supplements the ship’s electricity supply and reduces emissions. Celebrity Flora even uses reverse osmosis equipment to process sea water into fresh water that supplies 100% of the ship’s needs.Godmother: Yolanda KakabadseWith our passionate focus on environmentalism in the Galapagos Islands, our choice for Celebrity Flora’s Godmother was an easy one to make—Yolanda Kakabadse. She’s a prominent environmental leader and a champion of sustainable development and biodiversity preservation. Yolanda is a former Minister of Environment for the Republic of Ecuador and a former president of both the International Union for Conservation of Nature and World Wildlife Fund International. She has dedicated her career to leaving the world a better place, which is exactly why she’s the perfect fit.

Eco-Friendly Tech

We’ve partnered with EarthEcho International, a nonprofit organization founded by Philippe Cousteau. Jr., to introduce a comprehensive and customized youth program designed to empower a new generation of environmental advocates. The program is designed to inspire young people to act now for a sustainable future. Together, we’re engaging with youth and the local community to support the protection and enhancement of the treasured ecosystems of the Galapagos Islands, and we’ll explore opportunities to expand our partnership to other regions of the world.

EarthEcho

Celebrity Flora will be the first vessel in the Galapagos to be equipped with cutting-edge oceanographic equipment, known as Oceanscope. The program builds on our long relationship with University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science that will benefit from Celebrity Flora’s consistent itinerary to create a perfect way for scientists to gather and measure data on ocean circulation dynamics, surface temperatures, and information critical to the prediction of El Niño and La Niña. All findings will be visible for guests to view on board and become open source data, globally accessible, a first for scientists and anyone with a passion for information.
