New York is a popular choice of port to begin a luxury cruise. Not only do you have a great choice of destinations across the USA, Caribbean and even transatlantic, but it’s also an excellent city to spend a few days in either before or after your cruise.
New York is known as the city that never sleeps, and you’ll never be short of exciting things to do. Energy permitting, you could wake at dawn to enjoy a breakfast of coffee and bagels in a local deli and keep going through to dawn again as you dance the night away in one of the city’s many trendy nightclubs. But in reality, half a day of sightseeing can be tiring enough in this fast-paced urban jungle so be sure to leave time to relax and soak up the atmosphere as you go.
New York’s tourist attractions are truly world famous – with Times Square, Central Park and the Empire State Building attracting many millions of visitors. But even if you’ve been there and done that, you’ll never be short of more things to see and do in New York. The city is a shopper’s delight, with many choosing to take advantage of this and book an extra suitcase for the return flight!
Where can I cruise to from New York?
Head north out of New York and you can enjoy a luxury cruise towards Nova Scotia, calling at ports such as Boston and Rhode Island. Continue along this route and you’ll enter the Gulf of St Lawrence as you sail towards Quebec and along the Saguenay River to Montreal. The picturesque island of Bermuda is often a port of call on this route too.
Head south from New York and you’ll be on course for the Caribbean, perhaps calling at Florida along the way, depending on the itinerary. Longer cruises may also sail through the Panama Canal, journeying on to Mexico and even as far as Los Angeles. Transatlantic cruises from New York are also an option.
