Set to launch in August 2018, the newest addition to Azamara’s fleet is a worthy member of the boutique brand.
After acquiring the ship from Carnival Corp., as she was previously sailing as P&O’s Adonia, Azamara has renamed the ship Azamara Pursuit, and it will represent a 50 per cent expansion of the cruise line’s portfolio. This is something guests and travel partners have looked forward to for a long time, and will allow the brand to visit even more ports which larger cruise ships cannot access.
Previous Pursuits
Each of the ships featured in Azamara’s fleet were previously part of the Renaissance Cruises portfolio; Azamara Journey was originally R Six and Azamara Quest was originally R Seven, both of which were acquired in 2007. The more recent purchase was of the R Eight Renaissance ship, which had previously sailed under P&O Cruises’ fleet.
In a statement announcing the launch of the ship, Azamara Club Cruises’ CEO, Larry Pimental, outlined his desire to grow a little differently and secure more R class ships. He said:
“The reason is that I think the size of the ship allows me to go, in comparison to our own sister company [Royal Caribbean], to about 52 per cent of the ports they can’t get into. So, I have a different product right from the very get go. I think the size of the ship is perfect.”
The new ship is similar to the rest of her fleet and allows Azamara to visit smaller, more unique ports: key to Azamara’s Destination Immersion® focus.
Debut destinations
Azamara Pursuit will also be visiting 15 new ports during her journeys, including Antofagasta (Chile) and Lima (Peru) – where guests can experience the expansive salt flats of the Atacama Desert or enchanting culture of Latin America.
As well as new ports, the ship will sail 19 brand new immersive itineraries that are tailored to deliver unforgettable, unique experiences, including a 15-night New Year’s Eve cruise to Rio de Janeiro. Brand-new boutique indulgence
Before setting sail, Azamara Pursuit will undergo extensive renovations to match the luxurious boutique-feel as seen on Azamara Journey and Quest. The fleet is renowned for its intimate and contemporary style, combining elegance with relaxing designs which allow guests to fully immerse themselves in their surroundings. She will boast seven restaurants, including the Discoveries Restaurant and Bar, The Patio and Swirl & Top, as well as additional features such as the exotic Sanctum Spa and Cabaret Lounge.
With several exciting new excursions and 61 new destinations on offer, Azamara Pursuit will be a memorable journey for all who embark.
