Silversea releases images of refurbished Silver Explorer

It is almost a year since Silversea announced it would completely refurbish its fleet to the tune of $170 million. Silver Whisper was the first luxury cruise ship to be given a makeover, followed by Silver Wind, and now we have been given our first look at the interior of the newly refurbished Silver Explorer.

Expedition cruises with a difference

This Expedition Class ship is designed for exploring the icy reaches of the north and south, sailing to the likes of Alaska, the Arctic and Antarctica. Comfort is key, which is why Explorer now comes with a renewed sense of luxury.

What has changed in the public areas?

A new colour scheme incorporating elegant shades of blue and beige creates a real sense of tranquillity on-board. Flowing throughout the ship, the palette evokes luxury from Explorers paint right down to its carpets.

The Observation Lounge, Panorama Lounge and Connoisseur’s Corner have also been updated with beautiful new furniture. Even the restaurants buffet counters, ceiling and walls have been given a new lease of life, alongside reupholstered furniture that wouldn’t look out of place in a stately home.

Guests who would like to read more about their luxury cruise destinations will now find Silver Explorers reference and entertainment material in the Observation Lounge, as the library has been replaced with a fabulous new boutique selling everything from binoculars to clothes.

And what about passengers who like to keep up with their fitness routine while they are on holiday? They will be pleased to know that the spa and fitness centre haven’t just been spruced up, but have doubled in size to occupy the area left by the old boutique.

No stone has been left unturned; even the Outdoor Grill has been given a new awning.

A new look for suites

Silver Explorer treats guests to all-suite accommodation that just became even more indulgent. Each suite has been renovated with new carpets, wall treatments, curtains and furniture, including mattresses, headboards, wardrobes, bedside tables, vanity desks, sofa beds, armchairs, flat-screen TVs and lighting fixtures.

Walk into the bathroom in all but Medallion Suites and higher, and you will find beautiful new décor that looks like it could have come straight from a luxury hotel. New flooring, granite accents and rainforest showers mean that even getting ready in the morning is an experience in itself.

One of the best features of Silver Explorer is its verandas, and now, veranda suites won’t just offer stunning views, but lovely new veranda furniture. The eight Expedition Suites on Decks 3 and 4 have also been converted into 16 Vista and View suites, most of which feature connecting doors for the convenience of families and friends travelling together.
