Scenic is a name you may already be familiar with if you enjoy luxury river cruising as well as luxury ocean cruises and the line has celebrated its 30th anniversary with the exciting news that it is to set sail on the high seas in 2018, with the launch of Scenic Eclipse.
Billed by the line as the world’s first discovery yacht, she’ll be a six-star ultra-luxurious home from home, catering to just 228 guests and offering them opulent all-veranda suites and a host of equally luxurious and stylish public areas. There will be a choice of six different dining venues, offering everything from Asian, Italian and French cuisine, as well as a laid-back al fresco dining experience on deck – a place where you’ll also find Jacuzzis and plunge pools. There’s also a fully-equipped gym and wellness area, offering yoga and Pilates and of course, a choice of stylish bars and lounges to relax in afterwards.
This isn’t just any other luxury ship however and Scenic Eclipse certainly has an adventurous side, hence her designation as a discovery yacht. She’ll be a Polar Class 6, which is the highest ice class a passenger ship can be and has been designed specifically to navigate any sea in both upmost comfort and safety. State-of-the-art zero speed stabiliser fins always ensure a smooth journey, meaning that once you get to your destination, you’ll be able to take advantage of the ship’s other amazing amenities.
Scenic Eclipse isn’t just about taking in the views and exploring ashore, as she comes equipped with two seven-seater helicopters, a seven-seater submarine, a fleet of 12 Zodiac exploration craft as well as a wealth of snorkel and scuba equipment. There’s also a 240-seat theatre in which to enjoy both lectures about your discoveries and nightly entertainment too. Scenic’s renowned all-inclusive luxury extends to Eclipse as well, with all meals and beverages included, along with dedicated butler service, all your gratuities and on-board Wi-Fi too.
Scenic Eclipse will set sail on her maiden voyage across the Mediterranean on August 31 2018 and go on to explore the Americas and the far reaches of the Arctic, Antarctica and the Norwegian fjords. Watch this space for more information.
