Following the announcement of three ships to be refurbished, Silversea has unveiled more details of Silver Spirit’s extensive refit, and they are even more exciting than we had imagined!
The ship will undergo a major refit from 5 March and is due to re-emerge at the beginning of May, returning to service 49-feet longer.
Silver Spirit stretched to new lengths
Silver Spirit is one of nine all-suite ships in the Silversea Cruises fleet, after launching in 2009. After her refit, the ship will boast 34 new suites, including a top-level Balsorano suite which will be decorated with items of personal value to Silversea Chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio di Balsorano de Clunieres.
The overall refurbishment will take inspiration from the line’s flagship, Silver Muse, with the pool deck area being enlarged and a new health and fitness centre also being introduced. The ship will enter dry dock at Palermo’s Fincantieri shipyard on 5 March, where she will remain until 1 May.
Silver Spirit will undergo large-scale refurbishment works, including the insertion of a 49-foot-long segment into the ship’s midsection, making her the first luxury ship to be lengthened this way.
Executive Vice President of Fleet Operations, Christian Sauleau, said:
“Based on the wonderful feedback from guests sailing aboard our beautiful Silver Muse, we believe the comprehensive makeover we have planned for Silver Spirit will enrich the on-board experience and be equally appreciated by guests. They will see many of Silver Muse’s innovations and elevated comforts embodied by our reimagined Silver Spirit.”
Setting sail for the future
Silver Wind and Silver Whisper underwent changes back in December 2017, including technical improvements to Silver Whisper and a redesign of public areas such as new carpets and upgrades in La Terrazza and the Observation and Panorama Lounges.
Silver Wind was upgraded in a similar way, with a casino and reupholstered chairs also fitted, while the floors were updated in the spa and beauty salon.
