Statue of Liberty
This iconic statue is one of the most recognisable landmarks of the city, and well worth the cost of a ferry in order to visit. If you want to climb the tower you’ll want to reserve your place in advance – only 240 people are permitted to ascend per day.
Empire State Building
When you think of New York, you think of the Empire State Building. Climb to the Observation Decks on either the 86th floor or the 102nd floor, and experience the incredible view from what was for a long time the tallest building in the city.
Central Park
A huge park covering 840 acres, Central Park is known for being a beautiful destination in the very heart of Manhattan. There’s a lot to see, including lakes, wooded areas, open fields and the Central Park Zoo.
Times Square
The most visited tourist attraction in the world, Times Square epitomises modern culture with the bright neon lights towering above the streets. It’s one of those breath-taking places that you simply have to see once in your life.
Rockefeller Center
A complex of impressive buildings, the Rockefeller Center is also famous for its plaza which particularly comes to life at Christmas with a giant tree and ice-skating rink.
Grand Central Terminal
Sometimes incorrectly called Grant Central Station, this is a huge rail station that remains popular with tourists due to the beautiful design throughout. It’s packed with things to see, including a number of restaurants and bars, and the incredible high ceilings give a true feeling of grandeur.
Brooklyn Bridge
This is an awe-inspiring bridge that connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, and once was the longest suspension bridge in the world at just over a mile long. Completed in 1883, it has a pedestrian walkway so you can experience it in full.
One World Trade Centre
Following the terrorist attacks which destroyed the original Twin Towers, this new tower is now the tallest in the city and the whole of the Western Hemisphere. The Observation Lounge is opening sometime between the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014 and will offer stunning views from floors 100-102.
Broadway
A pre- or post-cruise stay in New York isn’t complete if you don’t take in a theatre show on Broadway, arguably the most famous theatre district in the whole world. It’s an exciting place to explore.
