Skagway is a small fascinating town highlighting the authenticity and preserved history of Alaska. Described by our cruise concierge specialist as what looks like a movie set for Western genre films this is home to around 1,000 residents only, with few remaining saloons, hotels, and gambling houses. Itineraries may contain Skagway as a port of call, however a 45-minute ferry journey from Haines with incredible views along the way is another option to experience Skagway.

Upper Dewey Lake within Skagway is highly recommended for people who would enjoy a beautiful scenic hike up to a crystal-clear water lake at the summit. If travellers are lucky the salmon run may occur within the surrounding rivers and streams, enticing predators such as bears and eagles, a natural display by incredible species of animals, this opportunity also commonly occurs in Wrangell.

Another popular excursion with travellers is riding along the White Pass Railway Route up into the Yukon. This stunning picturesque train journey is an essential excursion when visiting Skagway, passing by breath-taking views of mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, historic sites, and tunnels within your vintage style train carriage.
