Silversea’s Brand New Fly-Cruises to Antarctica

Silversea has revealed two brand-new fly-cruise itineraries for its 2021 season. The sailings will visit the frozen landscapes of Antarctica in 2021, with private jets available to fly people over the Drake Passage in business-class comfort.

The cruise lines’ Senior Vice President of Tour Operating, Expedition & Destination Management said:

“This is a defining moment for Silversea’s expedition offering: Antarctica Bridge will revolutionise the way in which our guests discover Antarctica. […] Many will still choose to cross the epic Drake Passage, which is an unforgettable experience in itself, but Antarctica Bridge is perfect for time-conscious travellers, as it will immerse guests into the White Continent in a shorter timeframe.”

With flights from Chile’s Punta Arenas to King George Island in Antarctica, travellers will cross the 670 miles of the Drake Passage in just two hours – a journey which would typically take four days to sail. Guests will then spend five full days – the same length of time as on Silversea’s conventional Antarctica voyages – exploring the destination alongside the cruise line’s team of expedition experts.

What’s included in Silversea’s new fly-cruise offering?

The flight service is reserved exclusively for Silversea guests and has been specially adapted to land on King George’s Island. There is a bespoke in-flight entertainment programme, which will include Zodiac and IAATO briefings on the Antarctic expeditions.

The whole journey is just nine days, which is perfect for time-conscious travellers and building on the cruise line’s already existing offering of 10- and 18-day sailings. This then leaves a choice of 59 itineraries for cruisers to choose from when looking to visit Antarctica with Silversea.

You can view our bespoke itinerary here, which includes all of the above.
