Held every year before Lent (typically starting on Friday until Tuesday or just a day after Ash Wednesday), Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is a festival which is considered the biggest carnival in the world, with two million people per day attending.

Typically, during the Rio carnival parade the streets are filled with floats, and large decoration from around 200 samba schools which are located in Rio. A samba school is a collaboration of local neighbours that wish to attend the carnival together, with either a regional, geographical or common background.

Mardi Gras has grown into a worldwide celebration, with festivals occurring in many destinations to commemorate this exciting event.
However, this festival most famously takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana, where thousands of people take to the streets amongst floats and decoration to celebrate. The celebrations last around a one to a three-month stretch of the year in which the streets come alive.

Typically, one major parade occurs each day for several days, in which take place usually within the last five days of the Mardi Gras season. Balls, festivals, parades and often mascaraed balls all take place during Mardi Gras, where both locals and tourists are warmly welcomed.

Singapore Grand Prix (Asia)
Taking place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the Singapore Grand Prix is close to where cruise ships port in the city, at the Marina South Pier. This Grand Prix was the inaugural night race and the first street circuit in Asia which was designed for Formula 1 races.

In 2018, it was ten years since the race was held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, prior to which it was known as the Malaysian Grand Prix before Singapore gained independence in 1965 and it was renamed the Singapore Grand Prix. There are plenty of cruises which sail to Singapore, offering many opportunities to set sail to this diverse city and watch this adrenalin-rushing event unfold.

Austin Grand Prix (USA)
The United States Grand Prix has been held in the U.S. on and off since 1908, where it was often referred to as the American Grand Prize. As of 2018, the race has been held 48 times and taken place at ten different locations.

Since 2012, however, the race has been held every year at the Circuit of Americas in Elroy, Texas – just 12 miles south of Austin. In 2005, the Canadian Grand Prix was the most-watched Formula 1 Grand Prix in the world, coming third behind the Super Bowl XXXIX and the UEFA Champions League Final.
