The latest new addition to luxury cruise is Oceania Cruises’ Vista, and last week I was lucky enough to sail onboard and attend her Christening. Vista is Oceania Cruises’ first new ship in 10 years and she didn’t disappoint – balancing a fresh contemporary and bright feel with décor which is elegant and true to the style Oceania Cruises is renowned for. It is always a privilege to attend the Christening of a ship, and I was delighted to witness Godmother Giada de Laurentis christen Vista, with crew members watching on in Valletta, Malta. The festivities were completed by an impressive firework display and music from Harry Connick Jr.
A highlight on any luxury cruise are the dining experiences, and the culinary masterpieces on offer with The Finest Cuisine at Sea® using only the best ingredients and talented chefs from across the world, mean you’ll always experience something special when cruising with Oceania. A new dining experience for Vista is the Aquamar Kitchen, boasting a healthier range of dishes including a range of avocado toasts, smoothies and oat pancakes for breakfast, and Poke Bowls, wraps and salads for lunch – so good I went every day I was onboard! Ember is another new dining concept for Vista, this restaurant offers a more ‘casual’ menu with crab cakes, fish and chips and steaks. I also enjoyed an Oceania Cruises staple, Red Ginger, an Asian-themed restaurant which was as superb as ever. Miso seabass remains the ‘signature dish’ and is always highly recommended, though I tried Lobster Pad Thai this time which was also delicious!
A fabulous space to enjoy a sun-soaked afternoon was the Aquamar spa, one of my favourite outdoor spaces, and a perfect, tranquil spot to relax after a massage or treatment of choice. This truly is a wonderful ship which I would love for you to experience for yourself and so our team of Concierge have put together their favourite itinerary selections for you to consider.
