A new guest lecturer has been announced for Silversea Cruises, to speak on-board the Silver Wind on the voyage from Las Palmas to Cape Town that begins on 3rd December 2013: ground-breaking journalist Roger Cook.
Cook is probably most famous for his series on ITV, entitled The Cook Report, which ran for 16 series from 1987 until 1998 and was known as the first current affairs programme to feature the host not only addressing major issues in the world but also confronting the targets of the investigations on camera.
And one of the noted facts is that, of the many episodes of the show (over 120 by the end of the run), the majority ended in either successful police action including prosecutions, or vital changes to law.
Cook has won many awards including a BAFTA Special Award, which was given to him for ’25 years of outstanding quality investigative reporting’, demonstrating how well-respected he is in the industry.
The Cook Report was an extremely popular show during the time it was on our screens, with audiences approaching 10 million when it was at its peak popularity. Cook also worked on other well-known TV and radio shows, including working as a reporter for The World at One on Radio Four, later presenting the show, and Checkpoint, an investigative radio programme.
Guests on-board the Silver Wind will be able to attend a lecture by Cook during the voyage, where he will no doubt have countless stories and anecdotes with which to entertain. And of course this is just one feature of an already-amazing cruise holiday, which includes complimentary wines, spirits and champagne, 24 hour room service, gourmet dining and all-suite accommodation with butler service for every passenger on-board. This new combination is sure to prove popular as part of a luxury cruise experience.
