New partnership helps Silversea guests track whales on their cruise

Silversea is known for its partnerships with renowned adventures, naturalists and photographers. The ultra-luxury cruise line has even launched its very own Antarctica photography academy.

Now, Silversea is expanding its partnerships even further; giving guests the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gather data on whales and dolphins on-board upcoming Silversea cruises!

Silversea has partnered with the UK marine conservation charity, ORCA. Conservationists from the organisation will step on-board selected Silversea cruises to not only help guests discover more about cetaceans and their conservation, but collect critical sightings of whales, dolphins and porpoises with ORCA’s experts.

Lucy Babey, ORCA Head of Science & Conservation, said of the partnership:

“The entire ORCA team are incredibly excited to be working with Silversea Cruises, and this partnership will allow us to reach parts of the world we have never visited.”

Erin Johnson, Silversea Marketing Director, UK and Ireland, agrees:

“We strongly believe when guests travel with Silversea they become ambassadors for both the destinations and wildlife across the globe. Silversea is committed to responsible cruising and with our guests will ensure that generations to come can enjoy the wonders of our oceans.”

What is ORCA?

ORCA is a UK-based marine conservation charity that has championed our oceans for more than 15 years. Part of its mission is to help people who care about whales and dolphins to play an active part in safeguarding their future through volunteer opportunities and partnerships like this one.

Silversea’s work with ORCA perfectly complements the luxury cruise line’s existing enrichment programme, which features partnerships with Accademia Teatro alla Scala, The Peninsula Hotels and Royal Geographical Society with IBG, renowned artists, experts and guest speakers. Cruisers will enjoy fascinating talks and land tours; exploring each port in-depth, accompanied by the people who know them best.

If you want to indulge your inner marine conservationist, step on-board Silver Explorer for a cruise from San Diego on 2 May 2018. The ship will then make its way along the West Coast to Vancouver, Canada, visiting Santa Cruz Island, Monterey, San Francisco and more along the way. Of course, your voyage will be accompanied by sightings of humpback whales, orcas and more majestic marine mammals.

Silversea and ORCA will also sail a cruise from Vancouver to San Francisco on 13 May 2018; and on Silver Muse, a voyage from Tokyo to Seward in Alaska on 12 May 2019.
