Excitement arises, Silversea has just announced that they will be refurbishing their entire fleet which is setting them back a whopping $170 Million Dollars! The planned development will commence in the new year of 2017. If ultimate luxury is your kind of thing, then 2017 could be your kind of year.
Silversea’s chairman Manfredi Lefebvre said: “We are thrilled to be moving ahead with these major refurbishments and look forward to welcoming guests aboard and sharing our unique vision of ultra-luxury cruising, both in terms of service and physical environment.” “We pride ourselves on being the reference when it comes to ultra-luxury cruising and this investment reflects our long-term commitment in this regard toward our ships, our guests and our crew.”
Silver Whisper will be refurbished first, with a new design to the suites, bathrooms, and public areas. Tiles have been purchased in order to replace the swimming pool’s current floor. Carpets are being replaced in the hallways, restaurants and lounges. A new communications hub is being added to the whole fleet, to help internet speeds onboard, and to help with the introduction of on-demand movies through new interactive TVs.
October 2016 is when we will see the Silver Wind refurbishment, as well as all the refurbishments to suites, restaurants, swimming pools, and carpets the Silver Wind is getting a manicure on the pool deck setting it apart from the classical decks seen with other cruise lines, the design is meant to give the deck a more luxury feeling and set themselves apart from normality.
The Silver Discovery will follow Silver Wind for its development and refurbishment. The intention for Discovery is to make the ship lighter, and more contemporary. The only major change will be that the discovery lounge will be remodelled from a breakfast venue to a more social relaxing lounge for guests to enjoy.
