To celebrate Valentine’s Day at Six Star Cruises, we have sifted through hundreds of exotic and beautiful ports around the world to bring you a list of the best romantic destinations to visit on a couples cruise. Some of these romantic destinations may be more surprising than others, but they all have one thing in common – the chance for romance.
New York, USA
New York is the perfect city to enjoy a spot of romance in one of the many amorous locations around this bustling and impressive urban jungle. Take a break from the concrete and commotion by going for a stroll with your partner through the beautiful Brooklyn Botanical Gardens or the world-famous Central Park. Another particularly romantic excursion possibility in New York is the Ice Skating Rink in the Rockefeller Centre followed by a trip to Tiffany’s. If it’s inspiring views you are after then look no further then the top of the Empire State Building. On a clear day, views from the structure can stretch for up to 80 miles into the distance, the perfect place to pop the question, perhaps?
Venice, Italy
The city of Venice famously optimises romance and is viewed by many as one of the most romantic destinations in the world. There are a plethora of opportunities for romantic excursions and experiences in Venice, in various locations all over the city. Why not take a peaceful gondola ride for two along the canals or a boat trip across the Venetian lagoon to the unspoilt islands nearby? Alternatively, loved-up couples can watch the sunset over St Mark’s Square or navigate the narrow streets of the city’s shopping districts and treat each other to an authentic local gift. Every inch of Venice seems to ooze romance, so couples will be spoilt for choice in the world-famous City of Bridges.
Tahiti, French Polynesia
The tiny and beautiful French Polynesian Island of Tahiti offers plenty of opportunity for romance. Many of the island’s pristine beaches are secluded and cut off from the rest of the island, offering the perfect spot to enjoy a passionate day with your partner at romantic destinations. For more adventurous couples, coastal activities including snorkelling and scuba diving amongst many others are available on the shoreline of Tahiti. Alternatively, take a casual shopping trip to some of the island’s vibrant marketplaces and buy each other something special. Possibly one of the most appealing aspects of Tahiti is the wonderful climate, which is guaranteed to keep you and your better half in a great mood.
Bali, Indonesia
It may surprise some people to find Bali on this list, but the city has a wide range of wonderful excursions and locations sure to put love-birds in the mood for romance. Venture out of the built-up parts of the region and discover a number of picturesque and peaceful areas, in which to take a stroll hand in hand with your other half. Walk through the verdant and colourful rice paddy fields of Ubud or get a table at one of many quaint and sophisticated restaurant situated in the outlying areas of Bali to enjoy a relaxed and romantic meal for two. A rejuvenating couple’s massage at one of the region’s many luxurious spa resorts is another fantastic way to connect with your partner and treat yourself at the same time.
Paris, France
Last, but by no means least, on our list of romantic destinations is Paris, France’s famous and ubiquitously romantic capital city. With a nickname like the ‘City of Love’, it is no wonder Paris is synonymous with romance. Visiting lovers will find no shortage of opportunities to share special moments with one another. Aside from the inevitable trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower cliché, Paris offers a profusion of other lesser known romantic excursions. Situated in the city’s 18th arrondissement is ‘Le Mur Des Je T’aime’, or the ‘Wall of I Love Yous’, a famous meeting place for lovers with ‘I love you’ written in over 250 different languages. A romantic trip around Paris on foot is perhaps the best way to appreciate the cities beauty and rekindle or maintain the spark between you and your partner.
