Azamara Cruises holds first ever UK AzAmazing Evening

Liverpool Cathedral by Miguel Mendez

Liverpool has joined the world’s elite cruise destinations as the host of the UK’s first ever AzAmazing Evening – Azamara’s trademark immersive cultural events which welcome global travellers to some of the best known ports on Earth.

The special evening took place in Liverpool Cathedral on 14th August, with 600 guests taking their seats for an exclusive operatic performance by local singer Danielle Thomas. The night also featured a spectacular light show from Adlib, with stark spotlights and bright neon glows reaching for the rafters to welcome Azamara’s international passengers to the UK’s largest cathedral.

The highlight of the evening though was a performance by the Cavern Club Beatles, delighting Azamara’s mostly American audience and marking 50 years since Liverpool’s greatest musical exports conquered the States.

As well as celebrating Liverpool’s musical heritage, the UK’s first AzAmazing Evening was also an exploration of the city’s 175 years of maritime heritage. The event also treated passengers sailing on the Azamara Journey to a firework display on the Pier Head, before the ship set sail for Holyhead at 11pm.

It wasn’t just Azamara’s guests who left impressed with their UK AzAmazing Evening – bosses at the cruise line were so happy with the night of music at Liverpool Cathedral that Azamara have booked the event again for next year.
